Welcome Back, Lily Moore!

If you’ve been reading my fiction for a while, you know that my first three novels feature an intrepid travel writer named Lily Moore. My debut novel, THE DAMAGE DONE, won the 2011 Anthony Award for Best First Novel. That book, and the others featuring Lily, have been out of print for the past couple of years, but I’m delighted to say that I’m bringing them back in new editions — in paperback and eBook. THE DAMAGE DONE returns to the world today! Some of the praise it’s received since its first publication by Tor/Forge in 2010:

“Hilary Davidson’s lush novel delivers on all counts, offering both slow-burn suspense and creeping pathos. Taking the classic story of a hero’s quest to solve the riddle of a wayward sister, it’s ultimately a tale of lost women, victims and victimizers, damaging and perilously damaged. A rich, haunting debut.” — Megan Abbott, New York Times bestselling author

“One of the best debuts I’ve read in years.” — Crimespree Magazine

“Davidson smartly injects the proceedings with a healthy dose of noir. Just like many of her characters, Davidson isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. The result is a mystery that contains more grit than glamour. And while it still has a heart, it’s of the broken variety.” — Noir Journal

“Making a notable fiction debut, travel journalist Davidson has written an intriguing psychological mystery with a fully drawn protagonist who is surrounded by real characters who either care for her or who want her to fit their idea of who she should be.” — Library Journal

“THE DAMAGE DONE is truly an astonishing read. Think Hitchcock writing for the hip Manhattan set… Neil Young might have to rewrite the song. The novel is that startling and original.” — Ken Bruen, award-winning author of the Jack Taylor series

The eBook is available now via Apple, Amazon, Kobo, Nook, and everywhere else eBooks are sold. The trade paperback (ISBN 978-0989726313) will be out later this month via Ingram, which means it can be ordered by any bookstore or library. I hope you’ll join me in celebrating Lily’s return! Stay tuned for a virtual event later this year.
