EVIL Gets a Paperback… & a Playlist!

Evil-in-All-its-DisguisesThe third novel in the Lily Moore series, EVIL IN ALL ITS DISGUISES, is out in paperback today from Tor/Forge. To celebrate, I’ve created a musical playlist for the book in iTunes. It features the music that I had playing in the back of my mind while I wrote certain scenes of the book, and a few of the artists, such as Madeleine Peyroux, are explicitly mentioned in its pages. Several of the songs are by Mexican artists, including Rodrigo y Gabriela, Yuridia, and Pepe Aguilar, which seems only fitting since so much of the action takes place in Acapulco. Frank Sinatra and Benny Goodman are longtime favorites of Lily’s. And since I’m a Hitchcock fan, I’ve borrowed parts of Bernard Hermann’s score for Vertigo. (If Hitchcock were alive today, he’d be asking Christen Lien to score his films, so a couple of her works are on the playlist, too.)

For anyone who doesn’t use iTunes but wants the track titles, here they are:

  1. Come fly With Me — Frank Sinatra
  2. Acapulco — Tito Puente and His Orchestra
  3. Me Olvidaras — Yuridia
  4. Hanuman — Rodrigo y Gabriela
  5. Damn the Circumstances —  Madeleine Peyroux
  6. The Beach — Bernard Hermann
  7. Helixa — Christen Lien
  8. (I Offer You the Moon) Señorita — Frank Sinatra
  9. Me Vas a Extrañar — Pepe Aguilar
  10. Bad Intentions — Digital Daggers
  11. Someone to Trust — Bear McCreary
  12. The Nightmare and Dawn — Bernard Hermann
  13. 15 Aftermaths — Christen Lien
  14. Now I Know — Cowboy Junkies
  15. Santo Domingo — Rodrigo y Gabriela
  16. Here’s Love in Your Eyes — Benny Goodman

Want to explore more of EVIL IN ALL ITS DISGUISES? Check out the book’s Pinterest board. Hear me talk about the real-life story that inspired the book (my thanks to Crimespree‘s Jon Jordan for recording this at Mystery One in Milwaukee). Read the reviews. And, if you haven’t already, buy the book; it’s available from independent bookstores (here are a few I recommend) Macmillan, IndieBound, Indigo/Chapters, iBooks, Kobo, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, and Powell’s.

Also, heartfelt thanks to everyone who bought the hardcover. Without you, there wouldn’t be a paperback!
